Northern Territory Shines at the 2026 Lion City Cup in Singapore
The Northern Territory proudly showcased its talent on the international stage at the 2026 Lion City Cup in Singapore in July this year, with Territory bowlers delivering outstanding performances against some of the best competitors from across the globe.
The prestigious event brought together teams from 13 nations competing across multiple pairs disciplines over six days of intense competition. The Northern Territory team rose to the challenge, returning home with a gold medal, a bronze medal, and several impressive quarter-final appearances.
Gold for Beaumont and Fekos
The highlight of the tournament came in the Men’s Sets Play Pairs, where Barry Beaumont (Darwin BC) and Daniel Fekos (Darwin BC) produced a brilliant performance to claim the Gold Medal. In a thrilling final, the Territory pairing defeated Malaysia to secure the championship and bring international honours back to the NT.
Bronze for the Next Generation
The future of Northern Territory bowls is bright, with Raquel Layton (Nightcliff Bowling Club) and Sheridon Bodnar (South Australia) winning a Bronze Medal in the Under 25 Ladies Pairs competition. Their achievement reflects the strength and depth of emerging talent within the region.
Strong Quarter Final Results
Several Territory representatives also recorded excellent results throughout the tournament:
- Alex Brennan (Darwin BC) and Barry Orr (Darwin BC) reached the Quarter Finals in both the Men’s Sets Play Pairs and Men’s Ends Event.
- Karen Lane (Darwin BC) and Colleen Orr (Darwin BC) advanced to the Quarter Finals of the Ladies Sets Play Pairs.
- Adam Hollingworth (Nightcliff BC) and Cooper Hocking (SA) recorded several strong victories across both events and narrowly missed a place in the finals.
- Naomi Brennan (Darwin BC) and Elise Crisp (Nightcliff BC) performed strongly in the Ends Event, securing two match wins against quality opposition.

Special recognition goes to Narelle Trimble, who served as team manager and super substitute throughout the event, providing invaluable support to the players.
