State Based Jackaroos Shine in Malaysia
The NT State Based Academy Jackaroos did themselves and the NT proud on their recent trip to Kuala Lumpur. The squad consisted of Daniel Baker, Mitch Jackson, Adam Hollingworth, Josh Van Haaren, Shae Richards, Tania Humphris, Jordin Oehm and Raquel Layton. Players played singles and pairs with some great results across the board. Competition was tight against the Australian Jackaroos and also the Malaysians with several set wins and game wins. The Malaysian players all train for hours every day on this surface in preparation for the Commonwealth Games. For our players to be so competitive is a credit to them. The trip was made possible by a funding grant from the Northern Territory Sports Academy who support athletes involved in High Performance Pathway Programs. The NT has a great batch of young bowlers who will benefit enormously from this level of competition.
