2023 Territory Fours Championships
Nightcliff Bowls Club hosted the 2023 Territory Fours Championships held over two days on Saturday and Sunday May 13th and 14th.
The Ladies fours was a nail biter to the last bowl with local Nightcliff team of Jill Tiller, Muki Muir, Joan Garner and Helen Marris beating last year’s winners Colleen Orr, Siobhan Tootell, Karen Lane and Sez James (all from Darwin). Scores were 16 all going into the final end with each team taking the shot off the other throughout the end. Joan Garner sealed the deal by dragging the jack back into a difficult spot with her last bowl to take 2 shots and the match.
The Men’s Fours saw the combine of Mark Diamond (Dwn), Barry Orr (Dwn), Dimitri Hnaris (Dwn), and Tony Sullivan (Ncf) too strong for Darwin’s Trystan Smallacombe, Daniel Baker, Ian Smith and Paul Rodin, winning 20/12.
Diamond’s team got off to a good start and early lead with Smallacombe making a late challenge. The second last end saw 5 ends killed and replayed before a score could be recorded.
