Darwin have maintained their hold over the Northern Territory Pennant by taking out both the Division One and Division Two flags.

Prior to the final Div. One round four teams were fighting for a place in the final with Katherine, Nightcliff Black, Darwin Gold and Darwin Blue all having a chance to break clear.

Katherine had a shock loss to Nightcliff Gold in the final round, with Darwin Blue accounting for Humpty Doo and claiming their spot. This left Darwin Gold to fight it out with Nightcliff Black for the final spot with Darwin Gold prevailing and into the Grand Final to face off against Darwin Blue.

The final saw Trystan Smallacombe’s rink take an early lead going on to win over Ben Trainor’s team 33/15.

Pete de Greenlaw’s rink had a good battle with Peter Wibberley and after a slow start, took the lead and stayed their until the finish winning 20/14.

Darwin Silver and Nightcliff White both stood out in Division Two making it clear who would be playing off in the final.

In the final Darwin Silver proved the stronger team taking the Pennant out by winning both rinks and sealing a strong victory for Darwin.

Overall the 2020 Pennant season has been very successful for NT bowls with many new players taking up the game  and bolstering the numbers.

2020 has seen the largest field of players across two divisions for many years. Next years Pennant already looms as players are already looking forward.
