Mark Malogorski continues his top form and teams with Kathy McGowan to take out the 2019 State Mixed Pairs
Mark Malogorski and Kathy McGowan powered their way to win the relaunched Northern Territory State Mixed Pairs under the dome at Darwin Bowls Club last weekend.
After dropping a game in their sectional playoff’s against Darwin’s John Meneguzzi and Narelle Trimble, Malogorski and McGowan were able to recover to win their next match and the section setting them up for Quarter Final battle against Buster Quinlan and Jill Tiller.
That match proved to be one of the tightest games for the finals with Mark Malogorski successfully drawing the winning shot with his final bowl and the last bowl of the match ending a dramatic fight by both teams. The score ended at 14/12.
Meantime, Jock and Louise Hicks who have recently moved to Darwin from Victoria were able to overcome John McCallion and Bronnie Hagger 20/10 in their Semi-Final to set themselves up for a Grand Final berth.
Mark Malogorski and Kathy McGowan took on Mark Diamond and Helen Marris in the remaining Semi-Final winning 19/7 and earning their spot in the Final.
The final match went end for end until Malogorski and McGowan were able to break the match open by gaining 4 shots for the 12th end, and then continued to apply the pressure to their apponents for the remainder of the game.
The Jock and Louise Hicks were unable to make up the loss from that end eventually going down 17/8.
